USEFUL WEBSITES FOR LEARNING SPANISH

Today, I’d like to share some useful websites for learning Spanish. I often speak with many people who are learning Spanish who ask me about sources to support Spanish instruction. I rarely have an answer for them because Spanish is my native tongue, so I looked for some websites that might help you, and below are the results:

For beginners, I recommend:

www.duolingo.com

www.livemocha.com

www.busuu.com

www.mylanguages.org

http://www.aurora.patrick-nieto.fr/

The first one is very useful,  you learn some expressions and basic structures there. Next, you do some exercises, written and spoken.  After finishing the exercises, you send them to a native speaker who will correct your mistakes and give you feedback.

Busuu is quite similar to Livemocha but there are a few differences.

For basic vocabulary, use the last ones.

When you’re learning a language, you need to practice using every word and expression that you have already learnt. You therefore need to do language exchanges with people who are learning your native tongue.

I recommend:

http://www.italki.com/

I couldn’t have studied Portuguese without the help of my Brazilian friends. The websites just mentioned are really useful as they allow you to contact people and practice speaking by Skype. Be sure, however, to choose the right people, people who will help you. I’ll write about that in another post.

When learning a language, you need to create a bubble where you listen and watch native speakers.

You need to watch TV, listen to the radio and read literature in your target language.

If you are a beginner, you should use Viki because it allows you to pick a country like Mexico or Colombia and watch a soap opera with Spanish subtitles. I love this site because I am currently learning Mandarin Chinese and I watch Taiwanese dramas with Portuguese subtitles—I want to work on my third language at the same time.

The second website is a guide to newspapers and the most important TV networks in Latin America.

The last ones are useful because they allow you to pick a Latin American country and watch local channels without subtitles, watch a movie, listen to the radio or download a podcast.

If you want to watch some music videos, visit my channel on YouTube and pick up a playlist.

That’s all for today, I’ll update this post and add more websites in the future.

I hope you like them.
